Hamilton’s 2nd XV put up another fine all round display of attractive rugby, scoring 10 tries to 1, on Tuesday at Parow under lights.
The home side had little to no answer against our powerful forward pack ably led by the experienced Christo McNish.
Behind a dominant pack, man of the match, Flyhalf Siya Alam produced yet another scintillating performance. He had the opposition continuously guessing with his variance of attacking flare, pace and finesse. Siya broke the line at will and when didn’t go through them he went over them, scoring a great individual try from within his own half. Outside of Siya the backline showed a willingness to attack at every opportunity resulting in some thrilling long range tries. The disciplined forwards controlled set pieces and worked tirelessly in loose play providing good quality ball to the hard working scrumhalf Marnus Feirrera. Feirrera was reward for his efforts with 2 tries. The first coming when he dotted down against the upright after the ball squirted out the back of a retreating opposition scrum near their goal line.
With the bonus point already in the bag, Hamiltons led 26-8 at half time before the flood gates opened and some more great team tries followed. New signing, former bok flyer, Jongi Nokwe replaced the unfortunate Iewan Bartels and scored a try after a bulldozing run close to the line. Ryan Johnson capped the evening off with a try in the corner to end the game 62-8 in Hammies favour.
In our next match, 7 th May, we face a determined Brackenfell side who are guaranteed to give us our toughest game of the season thus far.
With our side showing steady improvement week after week it will no doubt be a cracker of a game on our home ground and a good gauge to see how far we have come in the last 6 weeks.
