Leoneal Pietersen scores 23 points to give U20B’s solid win

After coming off a narrow defeat to UCT last weekend, the U20 B’s were determined to rectify that loss with a win against a formidable UWC side.  The U20 B’s played away at UWC under the Friday night lights.  The U20 B’s started off the game on the front foot, they played quick ball and penetrated right through the opponent’s defense.  Winger Mishaal Stoffels showed off his jet shoes and scored a brilliant try for the U20 B’s.  The U20 B’s camped in the opponents half for most of the first half, which resulted in the opponent’s making many discipline errors which resulted in fly half Leoneal Pietersen to slot over numerous penalty kicks.  Just before half time, fly half Leoneal Pietersen scored a lovely individual try from a quick tap and go.  He managed to convert his own try and the half time score was 18 – 0 to the U20 B’s.

The U20 B’s started the second half a bit slow but they picked up momentum through some illustrious interplay amongst themselves.  It took about 5 minutes into the second half for fly half Leoneal Pietersen to score his second try of the match, he managed to convert his kick from the corner.  Credit must be given to the U20 B’s forward pack who dominated the set pieces and also dominated at ruck time.  The U20 B’s unfortunately had numerous injuries but the substitutes immediately made a difference in the tempo of the game.  Coming towards the end of the match, the opponents started to fight back and after numerous phases they managed to score their first try of the match.  Time wasn’t on the opponents side and the game ended 28 – 10 in favor of the U20 B’s.

Man of the match was awarded to fly half Leoneal Pietersen who scored 23 points out of the 28 points, a very good performance by the fly half.
