Hammies ‘Seccies’ defeat St George’s in Friendly

As part of the preparation for the 2015 WP Super “A” rugby season, Hamilton SP RFC 2nd XV played against newly promoted Super “A” outfit, St Georges RFC 1st XV in the main curtain raiser to the resent Community Cup match – Hamilton’s versus Evergreen on Saturday 21 March 2015 at Stephen “A”.

With as many as 7 – changes and a few positional changes from the starting line-up that narrowly lost 21 -20 in preseason friendly defeat against Brackenfell RFC 1st XV, Hammies “Seccies” convincingly defeated St Georges 1st XV 19 – 13 in a match that never got going.

Basically, after every phase of play that was stopped because of an infringement, knock-on or injury. St Georges seemed happy to have a stop/start game and it seemed to be a tactic of theirs.  In the end Hammies ran out as easy winners by outscoring their opponents by 3 tries to 1.

Our point’s scorers were – Tries by Patrick Holman (Lock), Monre Lingeveldt (Wing), Reggie Boonzaaier (Fullback) who also converted two (2) tries.

This weekend we play False Bay RFC 2nd XV at the Bay, followed by another friendly away to Durbell RFC on Friday 10 April 2015.
