Hamilton’s 150 year Celebrations – January Newsletter

Dear all,

As we embark on 2025, we are excited to bring you the latest updates on our 150-year celebrations. The festivities kick off with the Cape Town Tens this weekend. Hammies has invited all the Super A clubs to join us and partake in the tournament. We hope to see you all there. The Vasco@Hammies will be open.

Our gala cocktail party, with John Dobson as the guest speaker and Mayor Hill-Lewis, our special guest, will be held on the 14th of March 2025. Tickets will go on sale soon. The 150-year celebratory book is off to the printers next week.

Our senior and U20 sides have been training since the 7th of January and things are looking great. The senior and under 20 rugby festivals will be held at Stephan Way over the long weekend from 20 to 22 March. Derby Day will be on the 29th of March also at home. Our First team will play in the Super 8 tournament in Saldanha over the Easter weekend. The tournament will be broadcast live on SuperSport. All the confirmed pre-season fixtures will be sent out soon.

On the 7th of February at 16:00 we are launching our women’s rugby section. Tayla Faulmann and Zoe Naude will head up this section. We are very excited to welcome women’s rugby to our Club for the first time in 150 years!! Join us on the 7th to see what the fuss is all about.

Our juniors are fielding sides from under 8 to under 16 this year. We are looking to field an under 18 side for the first time. Watch this space!

The under 13’s are going on tour to Durban from 25 to 30 March. We wish them all the best. Our Junior Rugby Festival takes place from 11 to 12 April 2025.

The touch rugby is up and running on Monday and Wednesday evenings and on Saturday mornings. Come down, join in the fun and make new friends over a cold one.

All merchandise will be available online and at the Club this year. We are making, amongst other memorabilia and merchandise, 150 limited edition 150-year customized jerseys. The designs have been approved, we are waiting on the costing then we are ready to go.

This year we also want to build our community. Friday afternoons/evenings and when the Stormers play at home, we will have special events for youngsters and other guests.

Come down and join us. Just remember to lock your valuables in the boot of your vehicles, until such a time that we have installed security cameras.

Join our community, pay your membership fee of R1 000-00 for the year (less than a bottle of wine per month) and receive all the perks associated therewith. You can also follow us on social media for upcoming events and other information. Don’t forget to like the posts!

Together we can make this, our 150th year, one to remember. As always
