Hamilton Sea Point Rugby Football Club was established on 14 March 1875, making us the oldest rugby club in South Africa. We are situated on the Green Point common under the shadows of the Cape Town Stadium.
We enter our 148th year with gratitude and huge excitement for the rugby year that lies ahead.
Head Coach Robert Olivier and his coaching team run two structured practices on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and our Strength and Conditioning Coach, Ross Beckett, has been working hard on getting the lads fit and ready for the season.
We are looking forward to a full season this year and will have our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and U20 teams playing in the Super A League and our 4th team playing in the Reserve League.
Our juniors, the future our club, have proven to be worthy competitors of the best rugby schools in the Cape. Adrian Kay heads up the dedicated coaching team and they are looking forward to another cracker of a season this year. Our juniors cater for boys from 6 to 14 years of age – This year our junior division expanded to accommodate an U14 team – exciting stuff.
Another first for Hammies, is the launch of our high school girls’ rugby. Charmaine Kayser, a former WP and Springbok 7s and 15s player, heads up the girls’ coaching team We welcome these girls and are excited to see this group grow from .strength to strength.
Let the season begin!
