BEST ADVICE TO PLAYERS TO AVOID INJURIES:
Don’t neglect intrinsic strength and stability training. Consistently incorporating daily, quality exercises that focus on function, form and proprioception build inner strength. Single-leg balance moves, glute strength, pelvic stability and core, core, core!
WHY IS A SLOW START SO CRUCIAL AFTER HAVING AN EXTENDED BREAK FROM PLAYING ACTIVE RUGBY?
Since the lockdown, we are seeing many injuries resulting from athletes progressing too quickly with regards to intensity, duration and frequency of training. Players need more time to rest and recover than usual. They need to warm up for longer and systematically progress to the level they are used to performing at.
