3rd team get the biggest win of the day against NNK

Hammies 3rds had a comfortable win against the usually highly physical and competitive NNK at Hammies on Saturday. This weekend that simply was not the case with Hammies running in no less than 11 tries.
Once again hot and dry conditions {seems to be a theme so far this season} greeted the players who were keen and ready as always for a home fixture.

Hammies boasting another strong line up of experienced and talented players had no trouble dispatching NNK. There were several stand out performances from the Hammies players, but really one should not get to carried away with plaudits on this one sided occasion.

We do save some special praise for our hard working tighthead prop Adrian Erfort,  who has courageously fought his way back to fitness after a terrible shoulder injury last year.

Erf took a flat pass from Mike Joni and showed NNK a clean pair of heels to score near the posts in what was the crowds favorite moment of the match. The run in and touch down moment captured by the photographers for Erf’s unborn grandchildren to admire one day!

Nice one Erfie!!!

Dan MacKenzie made a welcome return the squad with his first run on for the season on the left wing and bagged 4 tries in the process. Most of which were fine team efforts that required some finishing from Big Mac.

Monre Lingeveldt was once again on the score sheet with 2 more for the season. His impressive try tally and stock in the club continues to rise.

There were also tries for Tristain, Hugo and Ivan and the coaches singling out Mikie Joni, Alfred,  Tristan, Jason Poleman and Hugo Swart for their efforts.

One dark moment saw former Puma’s scrum half Oupa come off injured from a badly trampled calf which possibly could have been due  to some unchecked foul play. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him training again soon.

Full Time: Hammies 74-3 NNK

Hammies take another break this weekend before hosting new boys Uni Mil at Hammies on the 6 May.
