Valuable 5 Points against the Old Enemy

Wasn’t it great to welcome back Villager to Stephan Way on Friday night in the Super League. The crowd turned out in force with the evening on a whole being extremely successful.
Derbies always produce a special flavour and this one was no different as Villager who definitely came into the game with the underdog tag played with passion and spirit for the full 80 minutes.

The were up against an in form Hamilton’s 1st XV who were in rampant mood as they dominated from the outset.
Our set phases functioned superbly ensuring quality possession for our backs to attack.Villager defended well and our forwards needed to dominate the rucks as Bossie Clarke and Renier Scholtz tried to slow our ball down and ensure that they maintained defensive dominance.
Our young tight five worked hard under the leadership of Gareth Rowe and Jody Burch and slowly we started to unleash the shackles and turn possession into points.
Scrum half Jason Marcus revelled with this quality ball and crossed for a hat trick of tries before half time as we lead 33-3.
The conditions were slippery as the night dew set in making running rugby difficult , however we continued to play an attacking brand as our impact players struggled to adapt making some unforced errors initially before we started rounded off opportunities.
Jacques Oostuisen flanker was man of the match as he dominated broken play pillaging ball at will , while always being in in support of the ball carrier.
Centre pairing of Braam Gerber and Jandre Du Plessis where a constant threat scoring 3 tries between them while Janno Van Zyl added another brace of tries to his impressive tally so far in 2015.

Final score 66-3 a comprehensive victory however its the performances that we are looking for we will need to reduce our handling errors as we face Sir Lowrians this Saturday at home.

Try Scorers: Marcus x 3 , Van Zyl x 2 , Gerber x 1 , Du Plessis x 2, Burch x 1 , Lewis x 1
