10 of the best from Hammies 1st XV

With our fixture having being postponed due to bad weather on Friday evening we were presented perfect conditions on Tuesday as we took on NNK in Parow.

The condition’s despite, being a late kick off 9pm, allowed us play some magnificent rugby as we dispatched a plucky NNK side comfortably securing another 5 points enhancing our position on the log.

We controlled the set phases which gave us the opportunity to launch a great attacking platform.
We had a comfortable 3-30 lead at the break after we had stunned the NNK with some blistering pace on the counter attack after they attempted to keep us in our half with a defensive kicking game approach.
Wings Keenan Jacobs and Tshotsho Mbavane linked well with Full back Earl Lewis as they mesmerized the defence creating opportunities for their supporting players.
Centers Harlon Klaassen and Morgan Newman were fantastic in this regard as they rounded off the waves of attack.
Our pack drove strongly in the line outs varying our game as the ball got wetter with dew setting in, these mauls resulted in 3 tries on the evening. Juwell Samuels controlled the pack well and distributed clinically despite the slippery conditions
Stand out players in the pack were our entire front row Denzel Riddles , Greg Van Jaarsveld and Wes Cloete with lock Sandile Buthelezi and loose forward Marnus Jacobs proving a thorn in the opposition with their strong carrying.
Our defense was resolute as we conceded an intercept try on the final whistle winning 10-60.
We have this weekend off before we set our sights on Brackenfell on the 7th of May.
